This option allows you to browse items in McMaster Libraries (Catalogue only) using bibliographic headings (also known as controlled vocabulary) such as author, title and subject. NOTE: The Browse option excludes articles, book chapters and other content contained in subscription and open access databases.

- Author - retrieves an alphabetical list of personal and corporate authors; names of individuals should be entered surname first.
Examples: hill lawrence 1957- , statistics canada, ontario council of health
- Title - retrieves an alphabetical list of titles
Examples: lord of the rings, handmaid's tale
- Subject (LSCH) - retrieves an alphabetical list of subjects based on Library of Congress Subject Headings produced by the U.S. Library of Congress.
Examples: global financial crisis 2008-2009, motion pictures, world war 1939-1945
- Medical Subject (MeSH) - retrieves an alphabetical list of medical subjects based on Medical Subject Headings produced by the National Library of Medicine.
Examples: delivery of health care, ethics medical, neoplasms
- Call Number (LC) - retrieves an alphanumeric list of call numbers primarily based on Library of Congress Classification.
Enter the entire call number or the beginning of a call number. Spacing between characters may have to be adjusted.
Examples: PR 9205, PS 8523 .A92 S76 1964
NOTE: The Simple and Advanced searches in Omni support searching all types of call numbers (e.g., LC, NLM, CODOC, Dewey, Local, etc.)
