Audio Editing Checklist

As you work on your project, you may find the following checklist helpful in guiding you through a common audio editing process. These edits are typically done in the order they appear in the checklist.

  • Cut out:
    • mistakes
    • ums and ahs
    • long pauses
    • loud breaths
    • mouth noises
    • other noises
  • Apply a noise/sound reduction (if required)
  • Normalize the audio levels (i.e., loudness of the track)
  • Add fades to the beginning and end of the audio
  • Export in the file format required by your course, streaming service, etc.
