Open Educational Resources (OER)

OER Finding Service

McMaster Libraries is piloting a new service for McMaster instructors who are interested in discovering what open educational resources are available for the courses that they teach. This service is designed to help increase awareness of existing OER that have been created and may be useful in McMaster courses.

How it works

  • Complete the request form to tell us about a course that you teach and the types of materials you’re interested in.
  • Our team of librarians will search various OER repositories for open materials.
  • We’ll create a customized list of OER that are relevant to your course to share with you.

Questions? Email oer@mcmaster.ca.

OER Finding Service request form

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the service take?

From the time you complete the form to request OER finding, we aim to have an inital list of OER to you within two weeks.

What if I don't have a course outline yet?

That's okay! When you complete the request form, you can include information about the learning outcomes, course readings, and topics covered in your course.

Does the service end when I receive the list of OER?

It doesn't have to. If you would like us to modify our search or keep looking for certain materials, we can do that. We are also happy to return to your search and run it again in a few months, as new OER are being published all the time.
