How Do I Access e-Resources Off-Campus?

What is LibKey.io?

LibKey.io makes it incredibly easy to resolve known item lookups for items with DOI (Digital Object Identifier, e.g.:10.1126/science.adh2586) or PMID (e.g.: 39052901) identifiers. Simply enter a DOI or PMID into the box below to get instant access to the article.

Lookup a journal article by DOI or PMID

  • DO NOT include "https://doi.org/" in your DOI lookup string.
  • LibKey may NOT link to content older than 2005, as it primarily supports electronic articles.

The first time you use LibKey.io you will need to select McMaster University as your library, and you may be prompted to log in with your MacID. You can also visit the customized link for McMaster https://libkey.io/libraries/281 to start your search.

No access to the article?

Here's what to do if you don't have access to the article found using a DOI or PMID:

  • Click one of the linking options: "Library Access Options" or "See all content access options for this article." Both links will direct you to Omni. The difference is that "See all content access options for this article" may also reveal additional open access versions of the article, if available.

  • In Omni, sign in with your MacID.

  • Click on "Get it from another library".

  • Complete and submit the pre-populated request via our interlibrary loan service. Articles are typically delivered electronically.
