How Do I Access e-Resources Off-Campus?

Accessing Electronic Resources

Current McMaster students, faculty and staff can get authenticated access to licensed electronic resources, anywhere in the world seamlessly. All off-campus users will be authenticated via EZProxy with MacID and password. No VPN is needed. (Alumni users should access resources using the links listed on the Alumni Library Services page.)

If you have a resource URL (e.g.: https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/full/10.1089/big.2020.0140), simply add http://libaccess.mcmaster.ca/login?url= in front of the URL (http://libaccess.mcmaster.ca/login?url=https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/full/10.1089/big.2020.0140), and you will be directed to authenticated access.

If you click a link from the library website to an electronic resource (e.g. Web of Science), you will be prompted for your MacID. Upon logging in, you will be taken to the website and authenticated as a McMaster University Library user.

If your search doesn't start from the library website, the library offers a variety of methods to assist with the authentication, which are introduced in the other sections of this guide.
