COMMERCE 3GR0 - DeGroote Student Experience and Development III

A list of resources that highlight ways of thinking or knowing about the world.

3GR0 - Ways of Thinking

This guide lists resources that support students' reflection on Ways of Thinking.
The objective is to identify a range of resources from which students could choose to self-study. These resources can be in a variety of formats including but not limited to videos, book chapters, podcasts, poetry, art, music, illustrations, and other material. A person typing at a laptop with a variety of media icons floating above the keyboard.

These materials are intended to address some of the following

  • Unearthing personal biases that are often unconscious - such as sexism, racism, homophobia, colonialism, and classism.
  • They may touch on reasoned debates on highly polarizing topics such as defunding the police, vaccination and COVID restrictions, etc.
  • Resources that touch on the concept of "truth", and how one's viewpoint and perspective can inform these "realities".
  • Resources touching on psychological foundations of biases.

Disclaimer:

One of the goals for the 3GR0 course is focused on unearthing students' ways of thinking or "knowing" about the world around them and exposing them to other perspectives. The intention is not to convince students that their perspectives are inaccurate, but rather to enable students to reflect more completely on key issues with empathy and perspective.
